Blog Lackiness.

Sorry I have not been blogging that much. This week for me has been me going to vollyball, arriving home at 5:30, eating supper in twenty minutes, then rehersal for Fright Night 6-8. Fright Night went over really well tonight! All the actors and crew did great, and the kids were good too! This week has been hectiv. Hopefully things will slow down soon (knock on wood)

The post below this is a Media Studies project.

Crossfire Assignment

Everybody watches movies. Adults, teenagers and children. But not everyone can watch the same movies. The movies that is good for your age group is told to you by the rating given to the film by the Motion Picture Association of America. In Canada, we base our ratings on how America rates their movies. But how accurately do they rate them? I don’t think that they rate movies correctly. But the MPAA insists that they are accurate in their rating system. I will be using information from the MPAA’s official page and some opinion pieces on how it is unfairly rated.

I will start off with the MPAA side of the story. The movie ratings system consists of all parents. They watch each film as a group, discuss the movie and take a vote on which rating should be given to the movie. The board uses the same criteria when rating the movies as they would with any decision that involves their children. But here is my favourite part. The members of the movie ratings system are all volunteers! They change the group who rates the movie about once a week, so it is never the same people rating all the movies you watch.

This seems like a flawed system to me. Everybody will have a separate opinion on how good/bad a movie would be for their children to watch. So what would have been a R-rated movie one week could become a PG-13 movie the next. So should you let your kids go off and rent their own movies? Or should you help pick them out by reading the information on the back?

“It is important that this film be seen by as many people as possible, as it deals with an insidious form of censorship resulting from a ratings process that has been kept secret for more than 30 years.” – Kirby Dick. This is a quote from the documentary “This Film is not Yet Rated.” This movie is dedicated to exploiting the secrets behind the movie ratings system. And his quote is very true. What happens behind closed doors at the MPAA? How come independent movies and Hollywood movies are rated different?

A movie I remember seeing and being judgemental on the rating of, was “The Ring.” When it came out, everyone was commenting on how scary it was. But how come one of the scariest movies of the year was only rated PG-13? I have done research, and can’t seem to figure it out. I have looked up clips, and thirteen year olds should not be able to rent this movie. I own a movie called “The Itty Bitty Titty Committee.” There is no rating on the back, so virtually anybody could buy this movie. I bought this movie under false pretences. I did not know when I bought the movie there would be six lesbian sex scenes. This is a very independent movie, that was probably only glanced at, and received a rating that was not fair (or visible) for the people viewing the movie. I understand the title of the movie should be self-explanatory, but I don’t think it is. There should be some kind of rating on the back of the case.

My opinion is clear. There should be a paid staff, with knowledge about at which age you should be able to see gore or nudity in movies. If a movie like “The Ring” is scary, and gives adults nightmares, it should be rated R. Not PG-13. If the movie involves some bad language, it should be rated PG-13, as long as the parents are comfortable with their kids hearing these words.

I am curious how they chose the volunteers to rate the movies. Are they just people off the street? Or do people sign up on a piece of lined paper and they get a call when it is their turn? This seems to me like a system with many flaws. Should there be protests against the movie ratings system? That seems a little extreme, but there should be some investigating about how the system really works.

In conclusion, movie ratings may be very deceiving. If you are not a fan of scary movies, and pick up a PG-13 movie assuming it won’t be bad, be prepared. If you are looking for something to watch with the family, some PG movies have some swearing and other content not meant for children under the age of 7. Always be careful when renting or buying a movie. For more information on the documentary “This Film is not Yet Rated” follow this link: http://www.chaincamera.com/thisfilmisnotyetrated/info.html

Funday. Not Sunday.

After having really weird night terrors last night, I woke up at around noon. I showered and satrted to head out to the Petrolia Rink to do some public skating. On my way there, Carinna texted me, and told me her dad wanted to meet me. So I took a small detour, and went to her house. I was nervous, but her Dad seems really cool. I then asked Carinna if she could give me a ride to the rink. I always think its weird she drives me places, and her I am. G1-less.

So I arrived at the rink to find Clara, Lindsay and Ariane. Now, I am not much of a skater. But Clara is leaving for home next sunday, and I want to spend as much time with her as possible. So i strapped on some skates and hit the ice. It was not bad. I only fell 3 times.

I was hungry, so I went to the counter and asked for a poutine. Now, Clara and Ariane are from France, and have never had one before. They thought it was weird to put gravy and cheese on fries. So I let them try it. They loved it! Clara went and ordered one for herself.

The four of us then walked to Coffee Lodge to see Trevor, he was there working on homework, because ya know, Coffee Lodge has free Wi-Fi. We hung out there for awhile, and then went to my house. We mostly listned to music, and played instruments. Then Ariane left to see Trevor, Then Jon came over for five minutes then left. Lindsay, Clara and I played some rockband. Then Trevor and Ariane showed up, followed closely by Jon. So there were six people here, and then two minutes later, they all had to go. Clara was going to be hanging out still, and the two of us were going to walk everybody home. But I stayed back. I have had the house to myself all weekend and needed to clean.

I finished my chores, and Clara came back. We decided we needed supper. I am currently microwaveless, so that eliminated alot of the food we wanted. But I leanred today you can make Pizza Pockets in the Oven...it only takes forever!! We got impatient and ate them, with the inside still being really cold. We were heading towards the movies soon to see Zombieland, and I decided to brush my teeth. Somehow we got to the situation where I asked Clara if she would brush my teeth for me. Next thing I know, she is holding my toothbrush, brushing my teeth.

Then Emily came and picked us up. We met Ross and Laurissa at the theatre, and got our seats. I recommend everybody see Zombieland!! It was great! I thought it would be alot like "Shaun of the Dead" but alot of the scenes seemed really original. Plus Bill Murray is in it!! What is better than that?

We drove home and dropped Clara off. I didnt want to go home, So Emily and I went to Coffee Lodge. There we discussed Powerpuff Girls, Boys Bathroom manners, A certain teacher, and lots more. We eventually got kicked out.

Then we had nothing to do. I decided i wanted to got to the Wyoming cemetary and find Beckies spot. After driving around for twenty minutes we could not find it..I dont know why, but I really wanted to see it..

Now I am home, trying to avoid sleep, but know i should go to bed because I have school tomorrow. I will leave you tonight with one of lifes many questions.

"Who gets fried chicken at 10:30 at night?!?!"

Am I Peeing?

Ha. The title means nothing. I woke up around noon this morning (Noon this morning? Or Noon this afternoon?). I showered, ate timbits and played some guitar hero. Then at around 4:30 I met my friend Emily at streets and had supper. We discussed many things like: Censorship in high school, funny youtube videos, putting candy hearts inside of barbies, etc. Then after we went to coffee lodge and got some.....ESPRESSOS!!!! Gah I love them. Make me very jumpy.

Then it was off to work for the final night of "The Wilkinsons." They are really cool, I had a good conversation with the son, Tyler, between sets, and discussed alot about current music, and becoming big. After the show, we packed up and said our good-byes. I never have been a country fan (Except T-swift of course.) But I can honestly say I really enjoy their style of music.

I went home, and danced to BassHunter (by myself...) and played guitar. I am now brainstorming things to do.

So the title means something. After the Espresso, Emily and I were walking when i felt something warm on my upper right thigh. Thats when I said "Am I Peeing?!"
The answer is no. I just spilled some coffee on my leg. I dont pee my pants. Im a man.

Friday P.A day.

I went to my friend Ben Klebers house last night. We mostly played Ping-Pong, made Nacho's and Ran away from the Gate Keeper. Then this morning we got all dressed up. It was Beckie's funeral this morning. We were all looking sharp and headed towards the church. Looking around, I saw many familier faces. There was a brillinat speech given by Carly White, Kirsten Vokes. Then a letter to Beckie read aloud by her sister Meghan. It was beautiful. She will always be remembered.

Then i tagged along to bens dentist appoinment. That was fun. I then headed to work, to set up lights for "The Wilkonsons." For those who do not know much about "The Wilkonsons" check out this link http://www.wilkinsonsonline.net/ They are all really cool. I am heading into work tomorrow early, just so I can jam with the son/guitarist.

I got home and Carinna came over, We walked to Macs, got some munchies, got home and watched Little Miss Sunshine. Now I am going to bed, and wishing all a good night.

MS: This Much I Know.

I Believed In Pokemon.
By: Kyle Chamaillard

The title is pretty much self-explanatory. As a young kid, I always believed there was a secret world inhabited by Pokemon. I was a huge fan of the television show, and the cards, and the games. Overall I was a pretty huge fan. I saw every movie in theatres, and had a stack of cards past my knees. I always dreamed of the day I could go out and travel and catch a wild Geodude (A rock Pokemon), and have it evolve to a powerful Golem (A bigger rock Pokemon).

But I know the truth now. Pokemon was something created by the Japanese to entertain children around the world. Never in my life will I get to hold a Charmander (A lizard with fire on the tip of its tail) in my arms. Maybe when I have grandkids, they will live in a generation where the Japanese create a machine to configure DNA and pop Pokemon out and send them free. I guess to this day I will always hope that there will be real life Pokemon. But I know in reality. It will never happen.

I would assume there are a lot of kids who believe that Pokemon exist somewhere. Anybody who is a fan and under ten years old I would say think that Pokemon are real. Because kids have a very vivid imagination, and of course they want to live in a world where they can have little monsters they can fight, and train with.

In a way, I am glad I know the truth. But it would always be fun to whip out my old cards again and pretend to be a Squirtle (A turtle Pokemon) and crawl on the floor.

Media Studies Blog.

So I am currently sitting in Media Studies class, listning to "The Decemberists" and writing in my blog. Why you may ask? Because my Media teacher (Mr.Jameson or something like that?) Ha just kidding. Anyway, The teacher wants us to make blogs and post our assignments on the blog so he can just read them online. So if i ever have a blog spot that starts with MS: it means I am just posting a Media Studies project. You dont have to read them. My first assignment will be a page about something I used to beleive in, but now my view on it is different now. Should be up soon.

Mr.Jaimeson? I think thats how you spell it.

Beckie Annett.

Sunday started off good. We all awoke from our camping night freezing cold. We went inside and made a ton of home made waffles. Then everyone went home but Trevor and I. We cleaned up a little bit Then went to Coffee Lodge. We tried our first esspresso's....well four actually. We took one sip and thought we were on a rollercoaster. ha. on the walk to his house, we found a Violen and a Synthesizer!! I got to keep the Synth, and i love it! after playing with our new instruments, I went home.

I was on my bed listning to "Vienna" by The Fray. Then I was told...Beckie Annett had passed away.I didnt even know how to react. I just sat there for Twenty minutes. Then I Knew I needed to see somebody. I went to see Trevor. On the way there, I stopped at Macs to speak to my step mom. Then I Noticed one of our friends working at Subway..She asked me what was wrong, and I Told her. She was in tears within seconds..We stepped out side and she hugged me. And I Cried..for the first time in a long time I cried..Then i hopped back on my bike and went to Trevors. the entire way, i was sobbing. I got there and instantly hugged him, and cried. We knew we had to do something. We Wrote a song. Here is the Final product.

Please watch and comment. Even if you dont know Beckie. Send this video to all your friends..please. You can find it on youtube by typing "Beckie Forever," (Yes add the comma.)

I woke up this morning in a horrible mood..Beckie sat right beside me in Math (Home Room) We shared a table. I walked into class at 8:00 and looked. There was not even a chair where she sat..It was if everything about her was gone. Then I started crying again. A couple friends and I drew on her side of the table, and put emotion into every word. Then the teacher told us we cant draw on the desks. So I stormed up to the chalkboard and wrote "Beckie Annett Will Never Be Forgot. She Was One Of A Kind. She Was The Definition Of Freedom." and then grabbed my stuff and walked out of class to student services. The rest of the day was sad..But fortunatly some good friends managed to lift my spirits and make me smile a couple times...

Thank you all for reading this Blog. I Love My Family. I Love My Friends.

Stratford.

For the first time, in a long time, I woke up before 7:20AM!! Why? because I was excited. Today I went to Stratford. I biked to school like a normal day. I Found out that Beckie was stable, but she still needs a liver ASAP. (I am adding this to my blog because I was told to.) Kristine Watson, Kaitlyn Pelkhe and I had a very...odd conversation in Math today. Then it was 9:15 and time to board the bus. The group I hung out with was: Emma Whitting, Allison Packer, Drew Denes, Matt Denes, Jena Racher, Terren Napper, Paula Mourelle, Lindsay McGregor, Ariane Lenhardt. Oh yeah, and Dalton LiWonPo. We went to this cool, hip, cafe place that made soy stuff. They were good, but a little expensive. Then we found this REALLLY cool chocolate place. It was cool :)

After browsing for about an hour, we realized that the play "Macbeth" was starting soon, so we ran to the theatre!! The play was allright. Second act was alot better then the first. People were coming through the roof! There were explosions!! People were shot!!! Yeah ot was allright. After the show, I met a girl from Spain, and i introduced my self, and stuck my hand out to shake her hand. Then I realized why? People need to communicate physically more. So I gave this stranger a huge hug. People should give out hugs more often. To EVERYBODY! everybody needs a good hug. Even Strangers.

Then we went to london. At one of the intersections, there was a man with a cardboard sign that said "Help Wanted. God Bless You." So we pulled down the windows of the bus, and gave him some change. People were joking about it. This is when i stood up and yelled "How come we live in a worl where only the homeless are asking for change!?" I dont know what came over me, but i think society needs to change. We went to wendys, I ran to the mall, bought three movies, and then barely made it back to the bus before it left. The bus ride back was me sitting with Ariane and Lindsay. Two of my greatest friends. The Bus arrived in Petrolia and I walked home.

I got home and realized. Oh Crap. Bike is still at the school, I have to walk back. But before I left, I started talking to Jenn Pumfrey, and we decided that the two of us, and our friend Carinna would grab a coffee at Timmies. After, Carinna gave me a ride to the school, I got the bike, and now I am home. I am home and NOT doing my drama project, due tomorrow. I had a long day, and am very tired.

Help me pray tonight for Beckie Annett. For Her Family. And for everyone whose lives are affected by this, God Bless, and Good Night.

Also, There will be no blog tomorrow...Going to Canadas Wonderland again with Jenn and Carinna :)

ReBirth

Oh So Sorry Sir. After eating my blog three weeks ago, I have digested it, and now it has left my body (wont say how) and the blog is back. Instead of continuing on from where I left off, and telling you what has been happening in my life for the past 3 weeks, I am going to pretend like this a new blog. Starting today, you will hopefully see a new blog daily. I am currently at my moms house, which is Stupid Dial-up, so there MAY not be one tomorrow. Last night I went to Canadas Wonderland for their Scare Fest. Wow! (not world of warcraft) but Wow as in, amazing. I have never rode (Ha Improper Grammer) a rollercoaster before, and i started off with the "kiddie" one. One Loop and a corkscrew. Then I went on Drop Zone, The Bat, Time Warp, and the best one..I forget what it was called, but it rocked. litteraly, it was an old wooden one, and i thought it was going to break the entire time. After arriving home at 2AM, i pretty much jumped in bed and fell right asleep. BTW I did not puke at all. Which is grrrreat. Now I Will leave ya, conceive ya, and will try to beleive ya.
